Football streaks are key for finding value. It’s strange how often streaks and trends occur in football, and it is one of the best data tools for your bets. We use this extensively with our own betting tips, and we want to pass the knowledge and data to you so you can lock in that sweet, sweet value.
How to Find Football Streaks, Trends & Stats
To make your life easier than Pep Guardiola’s reign as Man City manager, we’ve created a detailed, up-to-date football streaks and trends table. It’s updated with all the major leagues and tournaments from around the globe and includes all notable streaks that teams are on. Use the search bar to find specific match results, over/under goals, and Both Teams to Score trends.
What Are Football Streaks?
Football streaks are a string of similar results or outcomes that have occurred consecutively over multiple games. For example, if Liverpool wins five games in a row, we’d highlight this as a five-game winning streak.
They’re an essential part of football betting as it allows you, the punter, to predict possible outcomes for a game. It’s easier to warrant placing a bet on a market that’s happened multiple times in the past rather than taking a punt on an unknown quantity.
Football Streaks to Look Out For
Some football streak statistics are more relevant than others. You’ll need to apply the data to the market you want to bet on. So, if you’re looking for over 2.5 goals, a team's recent form won’t matter as much as if you were betting on the match result. We’ve expanded on a few areas where we feel football trends and streaks are most applicable.
Winning & Losing Streaks
We’ll keep things simple to kick things off and look at winning and losing streaks. This is how many games have been won or lost in a row. Easy, right!?
This is best used for picking match winners, and it gives you a great idea of the team's form. But we can expand on general football streaks and single out home, away and head-to-head data as well.
For example, let’s assume that Chelsea have won five in a row at home and lost five away from home. These are two very different streaks. As a result, you’d be looking to back them at Stamford Bridge but oppose them when playing away.
BTTS Streaks
This is one of our favourite markets, and we love to use these bets when acca betting, as they’re a great way of creating big bets from smaller odds. But the numbers, again, need to stack up, and when we make our bets, we’re looking for teams that score and concede regularly.
Unlike winning and losing, for BTTS streaks, all we want is the team's ability to trigger BTTS. The ideal combo here is strong attacks and a weak defence across multiple games.
INFO
With 58% of games triggering BTTS, the English Premier League is among the highest across the major Euro leagues. But don’t just limit yourself to this. The Singapore Premier League (71%) and Finland Kakkonen (70%) are great examples of smaller leagues with exceptionally high BTTS averages. Use the best football streaks across smaller leagues to find some monster value that most punters fail to spot.
Over/Under 2.5 Goals Streaks
Over/under betting is all about the goals. It’s arguably an easier market to call, especially when the likes of the Premier League are so competitive and unpredictable.
Like the match result, look separately at home and away form. Bournemouth is a good example of how these stats can mislead punters. 57% of their games in 2024/25 have had over 2.5 goals, but when we break it down, it’s 31% at home and 80% away from home.
To confidently back the over, you need teams that are, ideally, poor at the back and capable of grabbing a goal. Southampton are a great case study for this, and they’re currently on an incredible football streak of 10 consecutive games for over 2.5 goals.
Goal Scoring Streaks
You hear the phrase “he’s bang in form and confidence is sky high” thrown about on a weekly basis by pundits, and for the most part, they’re correct. Footballers feed on confidence, and for strikers, more often than not, this breeds goals.
Jamie Vardy has one of the longest unbeaten streaks in football, hitting the net in 11 consecutive league games in 2015. When players are on these streaks, use markets like first or anytime goal scorer. Nothing suggests someone will score more than a run of form, which is why this sort of data is a crucial part of our own betting tips.
Top 10 Best Football Streaks
Football can serve up some crazy results. But that’s why we love it. We’ve trawled through the archives to find the top 10 best football streaks, some of which may never be beaten.
There are so many we could choose for one of the game's best, but Messi’s incredible scoring streak of 21 consecutive La Liga matches in the 2012/13 season takes some beating. What’s even more impressive is that he scored against every other team in the league during the streak. Mic drop!
With a staggering 24-game football winning streak, Coritiba are the only one in the list recognised in the Guinness Book of World Records. Their crazy run occurred in 2011 across the Campeonato Paranaense and Copa do Brasil.
It wouldn’t be a “top” list with European giants, without Real Madrid, now, would it? In the 2014/15 La Liga season, they went on an incredible run of 22 consecutive wins across all competitions, one of the longest streaks of any team across Europe.
We’ve already mentioned Leicester’s cult-hero striker, but we must include his 11-game scoring record again. It’s stood for almost 12 years, beating Manchester United’s Ruud van Nistelrooy's 10-game streak in the process.
Under the guile of manager Louis van Gaal, Ajax’s incredible 1994/95 season saw them win 27 games before lifting the famous Champions League trophy. Without a doubt, this is one of the craziest football winning streak stats on the list.
It’s fair to say that few have changed the face of football as much as Pep Guardiola. In the iconic 100-point season in 2017/18, his side went on to win 18 consecutive games, setting a new Premier League record in the process.
The evergreen Robert Lewandowski chalked in an impressive 21 consecutive games for Bayern in 2021, cementing his legendary status for FC Hollywood.
In the 2019/20 season, Bayern completed one of football's rarest feats: the sextuple. This 23-match football streak landed them the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, DFL-Supercup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
The growth of the MLS over the last decade has been huge, with the likes of Messi, Henry, Suarez and Rooney all plying their trade there. But Josef Martinez is right up there with the legends of the league, scoring in 15 matches in a row for Atlanta United in 2019.
PSG’s iconic 2015/16 season saw them go an incredible 16-game winning streak across all competitions. It was the backbone to winning four trophies (Ligue 1, Coupe de la Ligue, Couple de France and Trophee des Champions) and enduring a record-breaking 96-point haul in what is widely regarded as the best PSG team of the 21st Century.
What Are Football Trends?
Football trends work in a similar fashion to streaks, with a slight difference. They work more as a majority rather than a one-after-another event.
For example, if Manchester United win six games in a row, you would say they are on a football streak. But, if they’d won four out of their last six, this would be a trend. And an upward one at that.
Like streaks, these can be positive and negative. Generally, most only look at the good, but the bad can be just as important for betting purposes. A team losing five from six is trending but in the wrong direction. So, it would make sense to oppose them in the market.
Football Trends to Look Out For
The online world has shifted the needle for football betting, and there’s more data than we can consume. When it comes to football betting stats and trends, some are better than others, and we’ve outlined those in the section below.
1. Head-to-Head Record
An easy place to start is the head-to-head record. This is historically how both teams have faired against each other in previous meetings. Now, given how quickly things change in football, especially with the Premier League, you need to be careful not to go too far back so that the data becomes less relevant. Everything is relative, but anything more than three or four seasons and both teams will likely look very different.
As we know, it’s the majority we’re after. Compare the last six to eight meetings, which should be over two to three years, assuming they’ve been in the same league that long. A great hack for this is choosing teams that have overcome previously poor records, turning them into winning ones. Trending!
Arsenal and Newcastle United is one of the best examples of how spotting trends early can really pay off. From 2002 to 2022, Newcastle had beaten Arsenal three times in 42 games. Since then, the Magpies have beaten them five times in their last eight games.
2. Recent Form
If you were to only use one metric for your betting strategy, recent form’s probably the way to go. But what is “recent”? Well, we’d suggest the last five games are a good barometer, but you can shorten this if teams have shown a vast change in trends.
For example, if a team were on a terrible football streak of five losses but has turned things around and is now three unbeaten, this will be enough for us to argue that the team were trending up.
3. Managerial Records
Managers play a much more significant role in footie betting than most people think. It comes down to how they prepare players to handle certain environments, such as hostile stadiums, crowds, and playing styles.
One of the most famous is Jose Mourinho’s record at Newcastle’s St James’ Park. The iconic “Special One” has won it all, but he's never won in his seven Premier League games in the Northeast. From a betting perspective, this would be a green light to oppose his teams against Newcastle simply based on this trend.
4. History in the Competition
Some competitions suit clubs more than others. Arsenal have famously won the FA Cup 14 times, more than any other club and for some reason, they’re always there or thereabouts at the business end of the competition.
The number of games teams play these days means they must prioritise, and it tends to be the same for each season. So, what you’re looking for in terms of trends is teams that consistently go deep in whatever cup or league you’re betting on.
Be it Arsenal in the FA Cup or Man City in the Premier League, generally, you find that when it’s been won once, it’s almost a light bulb moment for clubs, and they know how to get it done repeatedly. Thus, it ties nicely into football streaks and trends.
Uncovering Betting Insights with Football Trends
The question is, how do we interpret football betting stats and trends into a real-life football betting strategy? And the easiest way to do this is by literally showing you. We’ve taken the most recent data from this season's Premier League to keep things fresh.
Brighton’s recent form
The Seagulls have had an iffy season but are hitting form. They’re averaging 2.25 points per game from their last eight. This is an increase of 37% over the season's average, bettered only by Crystal Palace and Everton.
Forest is trending down
What a season it’s been for Forest. Can they really make the Champions League? Well, their form needs to pick up, as they are trending in the wrong direction. Relative form shows their points per game is 24% lower over the last eight compared with the season's average.
Why Are Stats Important for Football Streaks & Trends?
Stats are everything for football betting. You must have something that backs up a hunch or a feeling that a game will play out in a certain way. We’ve all got friends down the pub who say they think X will get beat by Y at the weekend, but when you push them to explain the theory behind it, they can’t. This is not how you become a profitable punter.
Football streaks and trends play a key role in betting. The bookies use them almost exclusively to form markets, and our goal is to try and find instances where the bookies are wrong. If we can do this with theory backed by data, we create value. And that, my friends, is your Willy Wonka golden ticket.
For example, Spurs are averaging 12.83 corners per game – the highest in the league – which we could use as a trend for betting on the over/under corner markets.
With streaks, you’re looking at patterns. Leicester have lost six in a row and are on a terrible run of form. If you’re betting on games where they are involved, the data would suggest opposing them on any Win-Draw-Win market.
Key Statistics for Football Betting
Not all stats are equal; some will be more useful than others. We wanted to cover some of the key areas we use and that you can also apply to your bets. You’ll also see the latest stats for all the top footie leagues included in each section.
Goals Scored & Goals Conceded
Football is all about goals scored and conceded. It links to so many markets that it’s the first place to start.
When you’re using this data, you must consider both. For example, if you’re betting on the over 2.5 goals market, there will be teams that concede a lot but don’t score many and still have a high over 2.5 goals percentage. This is fine if the opposition is scoring, but if they come up against a similarly poor team in front of a goal, the likelihood of either team scoring multiple goals is drastically reduced.
Use this to create a probable scoreline
One of the ways that I use goals scored and conceded is to create the most likely scoreline for the game. I’ll combine the data for this metric, amongst others, and then create my scoreline. So, if the most obvious result is 2-1, then I know this ticks boxes for over 2.5 goals, BTTS and match result. If I’m super confident of the data, I’ll also look at the correct score market.
xG (Expected Goals) & xA (Expected Assists)
This is one of the coolest metrics over the last couple of years. Expected Goals (xG) and Expected Assists (xA) give an indication of what should be happening on the pitch. Sometimes, results don’t give the full picture.
Take Liverpool’s recent Champions League game away to PSG. They won 1-0, which was a great result, but they didn’t play well. In fact, their xG for the game was just 0.27 compared with PSG at 1.82. Without this, it would be fair to assume that they will beat them at home because Liverpool won away. But in reality, PSG were far the better team and actually, in the second leg, beat Liverpool 1-0 in normal time, before winning the tie on penalties.
You can expand this into individual player markets, such as goal scorers and assists. The concept is the same, and you’re looking to oppose bets where players outperform xG and target those underperforming. Eventually, xG will even out, and the value is getting in before it does.
Yellow & Red Cards
Card betting is so much fun. You can totally switch off from the match result and instead just look for those menaces running around looking to snap someone before entering the book.
Again, stats and trends play a huge role here. If they’ve a history of frequent cards, it’s hard for players to get out of that. Frequent offenders in the Premier League are Will Hughes at Crystal Palace, Sasa Lukic at Fulham and Joelinton at Newcastle. We like to call them ATM’s (card machines).
What’s the link between the three? They’re all centre mids. It’s the most intense area of the pitch and if you’re betting on this market, target players in this position or check out our card betting tips section for all the latest.
Corner Stats
Corner betting has blown up over the last few seasons. Why? Because of football streaks and trends. Data is widely available on corners, making it a nice addition to find more value.
An error we see a lot is when punters only look at the combined number of corners per game for a team. For example, Brentford has one of the highest total corners per game in the Premier League this season at 10.8. However, they concede (6.4) more than they win (4.4). So, if they were to come up against a team like Crystal Palace, who have almost identical numbers, they’d average one of the lowest combined totals for any game that week.
You must interpret the data to fit the bet. It’s the same with home and away form; just because a team is doing well overall does not mean it applies to all games or betting markets.

Using football streaks as part of your research process is vital. It’s a great way to assess how a team plays and expand this into other markets, such as goals, cards, and corners. Think of it as a way to predict possible game outcomes based on data, and from there, see where the value lies in the betting. Remember, value is the name of the game, and the more we find, the better our chances are of returning a positive ROI.
