With world-class talent and sky-high motivation, this event is seriously tough to call. But don’t let that put you off – this means more chances for the bookies to slip up, so if you play your shots right, there’s plenty of cracking value bets to be had. With that in mind, here’s how we reckon things could pan out at the Kai Tak Arena.

Kyren Wilson to Bag World Grand Prix Title

He’s the reigning World Champion and, at this rate, could be sitting atop the rankings before long. Kyren Wilson’s consistency just saw him rack up his 500th career century at the Welsh Open, and we reckon he’s got a blinding chance of mopping up here. He’s a player who just keeps going from strength to strength – his nine ranking titles, starting with the Shanghai Masters in 2015, began rolling in as the decade turned. And 2025 could be his best year so far. He’s already bagged the German Masters and gave us an absolute corker of a final against Shaun Murphy at The Masters (he lost 10-7, but what a scrap). If you’re after a solid shout for the World Grand Prix, Wilson’s got all the right ingredients – form, bottle, and a break-building game that’s as reliable as the rain in Blackpool.

Gary Wilson Gets Knocked Out in The First Round

While Gary Wilson is a stellar player when the stars align, this looks like a nightmare scenario for him. The former Welsh Open champ comes into this event after a tough run, with a string of losses at the Championship League and early exits at both The Masters and the Welsh Open. He’s always performed better on home turf, and with the level of competition expected and the added pressure of winning the first Chinese ranking event in decades, we reckon Gary’s likely to be sent home early in this one. If you’re betting on individual matches, keep an eye on his opponents and consider betting against the North Tyneside native.

Judd Trump Makes it to Finals

Is anyone better when the chips are down than the world number one? This man has made a career of making mincemeat out of major competitions. 2024 wasn’t his best year – he didn’t make it past the quarter-finals in the Tour Championship and was beaten by Jak Jones at the World Championship – but he’s still the defending UK and World Open Champion, and a menace in any tournament thanks to his steely, precise play. So, why haven’t we got him as a winner? It’s just that, right now, Kyren Wilson appears to have his number. He bested him at the Championship League and The Masters, and we think he’ll do so again here.

Key Players to Watch

Two things will determine the line-up at the World Grand Prix 2025 – the top 32 rankings and any further dropouts. In other words, this is a ranking event with a wallet-busting prize fund, so you can bet your bottom dollar that the crème de la crème of the sport will be there. But who’s set to make the biggest impact? Here are our sensational six – the players we think everyone will be talking about once the final ball is potted.

Kyren Wilson

Johnstone’s Paint World Ranking: 2

The Warrior’s got all the tools to be the best in the world – in fact, he could well be there already. It’s been quite the journey – Wilson appeared in the 2010-11 season, and after losing his tour card in just one season, he staged one of snooker’s greatest comebacks, beating Judd Trump in the 2015 Shanghai Masters. As the decade turned, he hit his stride, picking up the 2019 German Masters and the 2022 European Masters. Recently, he bagged the 2024 Northern Ireland Open, the inaugural Xian Grand Prix, and took home the 2025 German Masters title. Wilson’s not perfect, but he’s a force to be reckoned with – explosive, determined, and capable of taking down anyone. It might be time to stop calling Kyren Wilson one of the best and start calling him the best – another win on the World Snooker Tour would make that argument hard to ignore.

John Higgins

Johnstone’s Paint World Ranking: 8

With a dominant 10-6 victory over Joe O'Connor in the World Open Finals, John Higgins ended the drought with his first trophy in four years. That win saw him rise five spots in the world rankings, putting him firmly back in the conversation for future major titles. To be honest, after a long spell of disappointments – most notably his heartbreaking loss to Neil Robertson in the 2022 Tour Championship Final, where he failed to capitalise on a 9-4 lead –, many thought the 49-year-old's trophy-lifting days were behind him. But in one fell swoop, he’s proven that he still has the quality and consistency to take on and beat the best in the world. If he can hold his nerve – always the Scotsman's Achilles' heel –, he could once again be a serious contender.

Gary Wilson

Johnstone’s Paint World Ranking: 14

An often excellent but inconsistent player, Gary Wilson has never quite managed to replicate what he’s done on home soil internationally. Considering this tourney takes place in Hong Kong, that impacts on how we view his World Grand Prix Snooker odds. That said, back-to-back Scottish Open titles, a Welsh Open win in 2024 and a runner-up finish in the British Open prove he can compete with the sports finest. We’re not sure if Gary’s ready to take his A-game global, but he could have a major impact on World Grand Prix snooker results if he does.

Neil Roberston

Johnstone’s Paint World Ranking: 19

We’re predicting a quarter-final or semi-final finish for Robertson, depending on how the brackets shake out. Why not further? Well, when Robertson’s cue action – especially his long-potting – is on point, he can be lethal. But, when he’s not playing at his best, he’s known to crash out spectacularly. The first half of 2024 saw no major victories for “The Thunder from Down Under”, with a semi-final at the World Open and quarter-finals at the Saudi Arabia Masters and the 2025 Masters being his best results. Sadly, his tendency to underperform every few matches keeps costing him. If he finds his form, the former world number one and Triple Crown winner could upset the World Grand Prix snooker betting odds and claim the title. But based on everything we’ve seen since 2023, that’s looking less likely.

Judd Trump

Johnstone’s Paint World Ranking: 1

Even after a disappointing season by his usual high standards, Judd Trump’s still the most reliable man in the sport. That’s just how good he is. He knows when to be aggressive, is tough as old boots, and his accuracy is only rivalled by Ronnie O’Sullivan when he’s firing on all cylinders. Alright, so 2025 hasn’t exactly been a barnstormer for him, with no wins since the UK Championship, but it feels like it’s only a matter of time before this five-time Triple Crown winner bags another ranking title. We don’t think it’ll happen here, but you’d be daft not to take Judd Trump seriously when predicting World Grand Prix snooker results.

Mark Selby

Johnstone’s Paint World Ranking: 3

With a bit more consistency, Mark Selby could easily find himself back at the world number one spot. After all, he’s a nine-time Triple Crown champion and the current Welsh Open champion, proving that he’s a master strategist with the power and precision to beat any opponent… when he's on form. That’s the big question here, as for every ranking title, there are also a few instances like the World Open or the German Masters where he loses his composure and exits early. So, which Mark Selby will show up? The man capable of conquering the snooker world, or an afterthought in the early rounds? Keep an eye on his first match – if he looks sharp, those World Open Snooker betting odds might be worth a closer look.

World Grand Prix Snooker Prize Money

The move to Hong Kong has also seen the prize fund shoot up by a staggering 84% to £700,000, with a tidy £180,000 going to the winner. Makes last year’s £380,000 and £100,000 to the champ look like loose change! What does this mean for World Grand Prix snooker betting? Well, money is one hell of a motivator. Sure, the prestige of a ranking event attracts the big guns, but do we reckon some players might put in that extra bit of graft with such a massive payday on the line? You bet your sweet bippy we do. We expect everyone to bring their best, which could shake up the World Grand Prix snooker results in a big way.

The Ladbrokes welcome offer fits my punting style to a tee

Ben Gibson - For a tournament like the World Grand Prix, I love having a few bets on the go in the first round – keeps things lively and spreads the risk. Ladbrokes would be spot on for this. I’d whack a fiver on Kyren Wilson to win outright, then use the 4 x £5 free bets from the welcome offer to back some first-round punts, paying special attention to their daily specials and bet boosts. Let the winners roll over and stretch the excitement right through the tournament. That’s a lot of action for just a fiver!

World Grand Prix Snooker Betting Sites with Livestreaming

Discovery+ and TNT Sports hold exclusive broadcasting rights for this event, meaning even the best livestreaming betting sites can’t show it. Bit of a downer, but you can always sign up or find a local pub/sports bar showing the action. This year’s World Grand Prix is bigger than ever – more prize money, a grander stage, and extra prestige on the World Snooker Tour. That means tougher competition not just on the table, but among bookies vying for your bets. The result? More promotions, more markets, and better value. And the best part? You don’t have to wait – we’ve rounded up the top free bet offers and promotions from the best bookies, ready to claim right now.
